Oostende is another popular tourist destination in Belgium on the west coastline. Many beautiful sandy beaches are available here and the first one, from north to the south, is the beach Strand Groenendijk. It is located on a very special location, by the Napoleon fort. The region where you can find these beach is West-Vlaanderen. Although not many beach infrastructure is located on the beach directly, you have lots of different facilities around the parking place, like huge sport fields and a very big children playground. In the Napoleon fort you also have a restaurant. If you like this facts, this beach is very easy to reach with any kind of vehicle and you have quite a few parking options, the closest one 200 metres away from the beach. The access to the beach is not the easiest one but it is manageable. On the beach the total length is several kilometres and you have at least 75 m of width at high tide, and two to three times more at low tide. The water entry is nice and the point of swim various according to the tide but it should be between 10 and 50 m. You also have many options for accommodation in the city itself, mainly as apartments and hotels.
